Communities In Schools of Southwest Virginia is excited to announce its new name, Communities In Schools of Appalachian Highlands, as our organization expands across the state line into Northeast Tennessee to serve the entire Appalachian Highlands region. Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Communities In Schools of Southwest Virginia has been a place where students and families come to feel supported, loved, and, most importantly, empowered. As Communities In Schools of Appalachian Highlands, we will continue to be that place for more students and families – in Southwest Virginia AND Northeast Tennessee.
Our name change marks the beginning of a new chapter for us, as we reach a truly substantial milestone by crossing the state line to serve students at schools within Northeast Tennessee. Building upon the work we have been doing throughout Southwest Virginia for the past ten years, we are eager to continue expanding to reach more than 24,000 students in remaining schools and counties of Southwest Virginia while working to start supporting more than 75,000 students throughout Northeast Tennessee.
Our organization is in such a unique position to continue its growth in Southwest Virginia while serving additional students and school systems in Northeast Tennessee. We are excited about all the new opportunities for future development, both in programming and fundraising.
Please join us in celebrating today’s announcement and know that we would not be here if not for your continued support. Rest assured we will continue working to ensure that students across the Appalachian Highlands region have the tools they need to succeed in school and ultimately achieve in life.
